Whilst digital technology, along with its associated devices and applications, has brought numerous benefits to the health and community services sector, it is important to acknowledge the limitations of this current technology as well.

 Take on this challenge

After learning about some of the limitations with current technology, conduct research into further limitations of current technology being used in the workplace or sector you are interested in working in.

Consider the following when conducting your research:

  • How does the limitation impact the workers or your job role?
  • How does it impact the users of the service?
  • What opportunities can you see to fix the limitations of the technology?

Record your thoughts in your notebook or digital device.

 Case study

Sonia is a personal support worker and recently left her full-time role to become a casual worker in the industry so that she could balance her work with the increasing care needs of her elderly mother.

Sonia needed a work solution that could be flexible enough to fit in with her schedule but that would also provide consistent work with the same clients as she loved building rapport, getting to know them, and working with them for the long term.

A friend of Sonia’s introduced her to Mable – a software system that connects support workers to the people who need them.

If you are a worker in the industry you set up an account and must pass all the regulatory checks such as a Police Check and Working with Children Check. Once your account is approved, you can book jobs that clients have posted. You can choose when you work, who you work for, and receive high-level insurance with all your booked sessions, which provides peace of mind.

You can manage and support your business and grow it to as big as you want it to.

Sonia thinks this is perfect for her and looks into it further. You can look into it too at Mable.
